John Steinbeck was born on February 27, 1902, in Salinas, California. He was a novelist, short story writer and war correspondent. Steinbeck was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Price for Literature after he published the novel "The Grapes of Wrath" in 1939. He died December 20, when he was 66 years old, in New York, United States.
